Witham's Conservative parliamentary candidate Priti Patel has commended the Conservative Party manifesto and its clear commitments to upgrade the Great Eastern Main Line, double free childcare support to 30 hours a week and promote home ownership with the extension of the Right to Buy.
The manifesto also pledges to increase the income tax free threshold to £12,000 so those on the minimum wage pay no income tax, raise to £50,000 the 40p threshold, increase NHS spending by at least £8 billion, freeze rail fares and hold a referendum on membership of the European Union by 2017.
Priti said: "This is a manifesto that supports the aspirations of hard-working families in Essex. We are the only Party to commit to upgrading rail services for local commuters while freezing rail fares, support those on low and middle income by cutting their tax bill so they can keep more of what they own, and back those who want to own their own homes.
"Under a Conservative Government, the dream of home ownership will become a reality for many more local families. Because of the decisions we have taken to bring down the deficit and control spending, we can invest in improving the NHS to provide more treatments and frontline services, support new apprenticeships, to help more people into work and help families with the costs of childcare.
"A Conservative Government would also stand up for Britain's national interests by holding a referendum on our membership of the EU, scrap the Human Rights Act and end the European Court of Human Rights meddling in our laws, and bring in new controls on immigration."
Priti also welcomed the commitment to bring in a new Victims' Law, which she has campaigned for.
Priti, who proposed a Victims' Law to give victims more rights in the criminal justice system and Chaired the All Party Parliamentary Group for Victims, added: "I am delighted that our manifesto features plans for a new law to support victims of crime. In Government Conservatives have already strengthened support victims in the Victims Code and the new Victims' Law will go further to rebalance the criminal justice system and provide more rights for victims."
