Local MP Priti Patel has welcomed the consultation taking place into Kelvedon Parish Council’s proposed Neighbourhood Plan. Visiting Kelvedon Parish Council, Priti met with the Chair of the Parish Council, Cllr India Jayatillake, and Laurie Maxted, the Chair of the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group to discuss the proposals for the village. The Neighbourhood Plan includes proposals to give the local community a stronger say in planning and development in the village including on new housing, shops, recreation spaces and design. Priti, who has been a longstanding advocate of Neighbourhood Plans, said:
“Neighbourhood Plans give local communities the power to take control over development in their area. The proposals put forward by the local community and Parish Council have a strong evidence base and it is really important that local residents and businesses have their say and respond.”
“I am pleased that the proposals focus on maintaining the great local character Kelvedon has and called for future development to be compatible with the area and bring in investment in infrastructure and public services.”
