Witham MP Priti Patel has supported Blood Cancer Awareness Month and the Bloodwise campaign to make blood cancer visible. Blood cancer is the fifth most common cancer but the third biggest cause of cancer deaths in the UK. There are over 100 different types of blood cancer, about 240,000 people in the UK are living with blood cancer and it claims the lives of more than 15,000 people a year. Priti said:
“Blood cancer is a serious condition that affects around a quarter of a million people in the UK. It is important that we raise awareness of this condition, its symptoms and how it affects those living with blood cancer and their families. I am pleased to be able to support the campaign to raise awareness and help to make blood cancer visible.”
