Our Priorities are YOUR Priorities
Despite all of the challenges nationally and globally, the Conservatives are doing something right across Braintree & Witham. Braintree District Council has one of the lowest Council Tax increases in the whole of Essex, being 52% cheaper than Labour-run Colchester. Further afield, we are 124% cheaper than Green Party-controlled Brighton & Hove Council.
The Conservatives have delivered: over 900 extra police officers have been recruited across Essex. That means that we can focus on fighting crime at street level. Essex is doing far better than the Metropolitan police, which has lost control of certain aspects of crime. We will fight hard for improvements of our town centre, going further than those already planned by the District Council, and also campaign for better healthcare and a new permanent Police base in Witham.
The Conservatives have cancelled this year’s proposed green waste charge, pending the outcome of a wider review of how we fund, manage and operate our bin collection service. In Labour-run Colchester and Green Party-controlled Brighton & Hove, they already charge households to collect garden waste. It is still free at the point of use in our area!
We are positive about the future. There is something worth voting for locally, so use your two votes for Billy Taylor and Ethan Williams, local Conservatives for Witham North.
Billy Taylor
Billy lives in Albert Road and runs his own small business. He is an occasional fisherman and enjoys deepening his knowledge of history and politics. Billy has previously served as a councillor in Romford and brings a wealth of local government experience to the table, knowing how to get the best for his residents. As someone who has lived in other parts of Essex, Billy believes that local people can be proud of Witham, a town that is clean, safe, connected, and vibrant.
Ethan Williams
Ethan has lived in Witham for the entirety of his young life, attending both primary and secondary schools in the town. Being community-minded from a very young age, Ethan became a member of the Royal British Legion at the age of just 13 and a County Standard Bearer at 15. Ethan is always looking to support veterans in any way possible and now would love to help the wider community, particularly championing a voice for younger people, on the Council.
