Local MP Priti Patel met with Rail Minister Baroness Kramer to discuss the delivery of step-free station access at Marks Tey railway station.
Priti, who has been pressing the Government, Abellio Greater Anglia and Network Rail to deliver full step-free access and a lift at the station to hep commuters interchanging with the Sudbury branch line, discussed future funding opportunities with the Minister. Commenting after their meeting, Priti said:
“This Government has invested heavily in improving access to rail stations across the country to help disabled passengers with wheelchairs and those with pushchairs and heavy luggage to benefit from step free access the rail services.
"Marks Tey has already received investment to improve access to the station but more work is needed to ensure that passengers can enjoy the advantages of step-free access between platforms.
“We need a lift service at the station and I discussed in detail with the Minister what investment packages may be available to achieve this. Although there will be no further decisions on funding from the Access for All programme until after the General Election, there are other funding opportunities which I will continue to pursue.”
